Often walking in the rain can be unpleasant but sauntering along a quiet country road in a big, thick, <a href=\"http:\/\/www-306.ibm.com\/software\/integration\/wmq\/\">free<\/a> coat  listening to a combination of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0007OC71O\/qid=1131821768\/sr=8-1\/ref=pd_ka_1\/203-5132996-9030336\">Jack Johnson<\/a>, my cousin, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0007X6SR4\/qid=1131821892\/sr=2-1\/ref=sr_2_11_1\/203-5132996-9030336\">Ben Folds<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0001QNO4M\/qid=1131821965\/sr=8-4\/ref=pd_ka_4\/203-5132996-9030336\">Gomez<\/a>  using <a href=\"http:\/\/europe.nokia.com\/nokia\/0,,69498,00.html\">my phone<\/a>, I felt wonderful. Ahead of me, Winchester caused  the sky to glow and the rain on my hood was somehow comforting.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t walk to work often but sometimes it is a great time to reflect on the week. I haven&#8217;t achieved everything I wanted to do this week, for example I haven&#8217;t updated this website but on balance I am satisfied; at <a href=\"http:\/\/www-5.ibm.com\/uk\/locations\/hursley_details.html\">work<\/a> I&#8217;ve made good progress (and really enjoyed it) and last weekend I visited old friends in Durham. While in Durham, we decided we&#8217;d go and watch football in a pub and we each put a bet on at the bookmakers before hand. I bet on an accumulator  &#8211; Wigan, Reading, Newcastle and Wolves all had to win. Despite the better than 18-1 odds I was given (I bet \u00c2\u00a35) all the teams won, sometimes life just works that way.<\/p>\n<p>P.S. quite a few people at work are writing a big <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eightbar.co.uk\/\">collaborative blog<\/a> which I&#8217;ve just posted to talking about Linux.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;as I walked home from work last night.
