The Alphabet Game
I’ve been working on a little web-app that I call the “Alphabet Game”. It’s a simple little game where you drag letters on to objects that begin with that letter. It’s at a fairly early stage at the moment – it’ll be much more child-friendly when we add some sound with some HTML5 audio tags.
Eventually I’ll use it with my daughter, Katie. At the moment, she’s a bit young for it though we have had fun pointing out the names of the objects she already knows.
Let me know if you have comments or suggestions.
Looks cool – is the code available? I’d love to learn a bit more HTML5 and just see how you did the drag&drop stuff…
Hi Anton,
The code is all javascript so you can use view source to see it. It’s not explicitly under an open-source license (as I need to get approval from my employer even though it was developed out of work hours), this may change in the future.
There’s no HTML5 coolness in there at the moment, I’ve not added the HTML5 audio tags yet. The drag and drop stuff I based on a tutorial at http://luke.breuer.com/tutorial/javascript-drag-and-drop-tutorial.aspx (it is linked to in the credits in “Options and Info”).
See you soon.
btw it works great on chrome
